Cod liver oil is long known for its health benefits and has been used for centuries to enhance health and well being. Cod liver oil is, like other fish oils, a complex mixture of triacylglycerol’s (also called triglycerides) and trace components. What sets it apart from most other fish oils is the fatty acid profile and the high level of vitamins A and D3.
JUJU is a pale-yellow oil with odor and taste being slightly fishy. The oil is obtained from the fresh livers of cod (Gadus morhua). It is refined and clarified by filtration at about 0°C. The refining process removes unwanted components such as free fatty acids, pigments, contaminants and various other substances that can impart fishy flavor or off-flavor to the oil. It is imperative that the products we consume are clean and that they meet the most stringent international demands issued by health authorities. This is secured through elaborate and comprehensive production processes in the refinery. The equipment used for refining is custom-made, built on the extensive knowledge of fish oil refining obtained over the last 80 years.
Dropi’s oil is a pure natural cod liver oil. The texture has a clear yellow and reddish tone, without any cloudy appearance at room temperature. When refrigerated, the oil may become cloudy and thickened, due to the presence of natural stearin. It is important to keep in mind that Dropi cod liver oil is less processed than regular commercially produced cod liver or fish oil. It is cold processed and therefore classified as virgin oil. The vitamins A and D are in their natural state and may therefore vary between seasons. These vitamins are not added to our oil. Omega-3 and other fatty acids are as pure and natural as intended by nature. Small amounts of Rosemary combined with natural Vitamin E are added to preserve this delicate oil.
Most cod liver oils are produced by a heating method, which drastically reduces the levels of Vitamins and Omega-3 Fatty Acids, necessitating the addition of synthetic vitamins back into the oil. Dropi is produced by a unique cold processing method where the oil is only heated to 42°C, preserving the fish’s natural fatty acids, including Omega 3, and Vitamins A and D.
No artificial ingredients are added to Dropi or JUJU oil making it an extra virgin cod liver oil, and a RAW food.
All Dropi capsules are made from natural fish gelatin – meaning Dropi is pescetarian friendly.
Our bottles are made of dark brown glass to protect the oil from light. The cap has protective sealing to prevent leaks and spills. The short bottle neck and small opening make pouring into a spoon an effortless process.
